Program Highlights

Boston: From State Street Corporation's founding in 1792 to the business incubators and accelerators powering the industry in 2020, Boston has long been a city where setting the standard and then challenging the status quo is just business as usual. Here, the Big Four accounting firms are within a two-mile stretch, alongside financial services giants such as Fidelity Investments, Liberty Mutual, John Hancock and JP Morgan.  Boston is also the center of the emerging world of financial technology as well as a hub for startups who are seeking top talent in areas of business and product development, sales, marketing and management.

A Glimpse into the Curriculum: Emmanuel's management major reflects the reality of management today-a field of study and action that is fundamentally multidisciplinary, drawing on theories and models from economics, sociology, political science and psychology.

Hone Your Skills: In addition to the general major in management, students have the opportunity to add a concentration to further focus their studies. Concentrations are available in sport management, marketing, and health care management—each ideally suited to translate students' talents and training to meaningful careers in Boston and beyond.

Capstone Experiences: Emmanuel management majors are required to complete an internship to graduate, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a professional setting. The culminating experience for all management majors is Strategic Management, in which students participate in a business simulation project, assessing company performance, identifying problems and possibilities, and developing and executing strategy, as well as examining social responsibilities that should be addressed when implementing strategic decisions.

I chose Emmanuel because of its location in Boston and its proximity to the city's big players and immediately set my sights on the city's leading names in the financial industry. As a cyber risk consultant at Deloitte, I help clients build security strategies in defense of data hacking, Brand image be torn down overnight from a data break. As e-commerce grows, businesses need protection from individuals looking to exploit weakness in company systems.
